We had an outstanding Tongan Language Week this year. Our theme was 'E tu'uloa 'a e lea faka-Tongá 'o ka lea'aki 'i 'api, siasí (lotú), mo e nofo-'a-kāingá - The Tongan Language will be sustainable when used at home, church and in the wider community.
Our kāinga were an invaluable resource as they shared kai, traditional hiva and decorations for the school.
The classes worked hard to learn songs for the challenge, and designed their own ngātu.
The highlights of the week were the assemblies, where the whole school had the opportunity to see many of our Tongan students shine.

CONSTRUCTION HAPPENING ON CLENDON ROUNDABOUT
We’re getting in touch to provide an update on the Weymouth, Roscommon, Mahia, and Palmers Road roundabout upgrade project.
We originally planned to start the roundabout upgrades on Monday, August 19, 2024.
This project is going ahead, but the construction start date has been postponed.
We anticipate now starting in September. As soon as the new start date is confirmed, we will update you.
If you have any questions about this delay, please email projects@at.govt.nz.
To keep people moving, Auckland Transport will start upgrading the Weymouth Road, Roscommon Road, Mahia Road, and Palmers Road roundabout. What are the changes? * Adding two additional entrances into the roundabout from Roscommon Road and Weymouth Road east to improve congestion. * Painting zebra crossings on each leg of the roundabout to provide people with safe locations to cross the road. * Install pedestrian islands in the middle of the zebra crossing to allow people to cross in two stages. * Painting high friction paint on all legs to the roundabout. What will happen during construction? As the Weymouth roundabout is one of the busiest and largest in the area, AT will be working on one leg of the roundabout at a time. This allows traffic flow to continue, but some delays can be expected whilst the works happen. We will monitor the pedestrian activity near the roundabout during construction. We will also add extra traffic controllers to help monitor the area during school drop off and pick up times. Please follow all traffic signs and any detours. How long will the upgrades take? This project will take approximately 3-4 months to complete, depending on weather conditions. For more information Please visit at.govt.nz/weymouthRAB Contact AT Email projects@at.govt.nz or call 09 930 5090.

The New Zealand Traveller Declaration is an online system that travellers can use to complete a declaration before they travel into New Zealand. The new digital system was launched in August 2023 and not many people know they can now do it online – replacing the paper card you used to fill out on the plane.
We are keen to promote it for the upcoming school holidays, in particular for families who might be travelling overseas and will need to complete a declaration when they return.
