ACTING PRINCIPAL'S TALANOA
Moana Iese
Kia ora koutou, talofa lava and warm greetings to our Weymouth Community, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and our beautiful Tamariki.
As we finish Week 4 of Term 2 and head into Week 5 we reflect on the last couple of weeks and the wonderful opportunities our students have had to explore, learn, and shine.
Barbarians Rugby
Thank you to Whaea Danielle who organised our school to take part in the 35th Primary School Rugby Fun Day hosted by the NZ Barbarian Rugby Club. There were 23 schools that participated. This was held on Sunday 19 May at Bruce Pulman Park. I was privileged to have taken 13 of our students to this awesome event. The day was all about FUN and therefore no official scores were taken, however we did win two out of our three games. I’d like to thank the many whānau that came out on the day to support our kids and help transport. Your cheering and encouragement on the sideline was really appreciated. A big thank you to Jacob (Dillon and Jayveous’ dad) for coaching our kids on the day.
Junky Monkeys
Thank you to Whaea Deirdre who organised another visit from this wonderful organisation who provide ‘Loose Parts’ (otherwise known as junk) and random objects for kids to explore in many ways. It was great to see our students collaborating, being creative, role playing and taking risks.
Pink Shirt Day - celebrating kindness and inclusiveness
Last Friday our school was immersed in a ray of pinkness - it was a fabulous sight to see! For us at WPS, this was to coincide with
Teacher Only Day / Kings Birthday Weekend
A reminder that on Friday 31 May school will be closed as we will be having our teacher only day to focus on the development of our school curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment. This weekend is also extended with the Kings Birthday which is on Monday 3 June. So enjoy the extra long weekend with your families - school will be back on Tuesday 4 June.
Keeping Well
As we head into the cooler months we are experiencing students and staff with colds, flu and covid. We appreciate whānau calling in to report your absences. If your child is unwell, please keep them home. If your child appears unwell at school, our office staff will assess them by taking their temperature and monitoring them. There will be times that we have to ring home if your child is too unwell to remain at school. Take care of yourselves and your families.
