LEGACY PROJECT - This is our second year doing Legacy Projects, with our Year 6 students who are leaving Weymouth.I managed to secure the services of Rowena Rooney, an artist who is working with our Year 6 students. In your final year at WPS our students get to experience a trip to Rotoroa Island. This year we have looked at native birds on Rotoroa Island and around Weymouth and each student has created a bird which will be displayed outside Rooms 17 to 20. The children got to find out about the bird they chose and then create a cultural pattern representing who they are, and then added the House colour they are in.
We are delighted at the work Rowena has done with all the Year 6 students. Watch this space, as the birds will be installed before the end of the term. A huge thank you to Ross and Rowena Rooney for making our 2023 Legacy Project come to life.
APPA LUNCHEON - I am honoured this year to be at our Auckland Primary Principals’ Association luncheon for my services to APPA Executive over the past few years. I have absolutely loved my time on the Executive, sharing knowledge and always bringing back what is happening across Auckland re Education.
CELEBRATING OUR LEADERS OF 2023 - this week we are celebrating all our Leaders who have done service to our school and community for 2023. We are so proud of your work and thank you for your services. “A Leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way”. On behalf of our school and community, thank you for all you have done for WPS.
Finally, in Week 10 on Wednesday 13th of December we will be acknowledging all our 2023 Leaders with their certificates. Parents are welcome to join us.
