PRINCIPAL'S TALANOA
Saane Faaofo Oldehaver
Kia ora koutou, talofa lava and warm greetings to our Weymouth Community, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and our beautiful Tamariki.
I can’t believe it is the end of week 4, Term 3 already. The year is flying by. The weather unfortunately is still very cold and I urge you all to keep warm to keep those nasty bugs away. We are still trying to work on our attendance and also getting children to school on time. We begin each day with Te Reo Māori and Tikanga, so it is vital all our children are here before 9am. We would appreciate your support.
MATHS WEEK - what a fabulous week it has been. We have had Challenges each day with our families and our children. Well done to all our families who logged on daily to Hero and had a go at the Math problems. Mrs Iese will be announcing the prize winners.
AUSTRALIAN MATHS COMPETITION - once again we entered a number of students into this competition. It was well attended and we will share the results when we receive them. Well done to all our students for being brave and having a go.
AN AWESOME OPPORTUNITY - Yimei Chuah is studying towards her PhD and she is doing some research at our school with our senior students. The question she is investigating is ‘Do school gardens facilitate primary school children’s social, psychological and behavioural wellbeing?’ She has spoken to all our senior students to see if they are keen to participate. They need to get signed consent from parents, so please if your children bring a form home, can you please sign it and return it to school. Yimei is happy to answer any questions you may have.
TRAGIC EVENT - Our heartfelt messages go out to Maui in Hawaii for the devastation they have experienced. There are no words, except our thoughts and prayers to all the families. We wish them a speedy recovery.
ANOTHER SAD EVENT - Karl Vasau, the Principal of Rowandale School, father has passed away. Our Manurewa Principals and our New Zealand Pasifika Principals have all sent our love and prayers to Karl and his family at this time.
