Kia ora koutou, talofa lava and warm greetings to our Weymouth Community, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and our beautiful Tamariki.
Learning Conversations- it was wonderful to see so many families come to talanoa with your child’s teachers’ to see how well they are doing and what you can do at home to support them. We love to work together for the success of all our children. If you were unable to attend, please feel free to book another time with your child’s teacher. They would love to make sure they see all the whanau. We have had 90% attendance and our teachers have reached out to the 10% who were unable to attend and have made another time to visit. Thank you on behalf of WPS.
NZ BOOK MONTH - we have had so much fun celebrating all our NZ authors. Our dress up as your favourite character day was amazing. I love the way our children and families can make a costume on a shoestring budget, well done.
ATTENDANCE- this week our attendance was:
Monday - 434 children present
Tuesday - 449 children present
Wednesday - 445 children present
Thursday - 437 children present
Friday - 438 children present
Thank you for continuing to support the learning of your children by getting them to school every day.
Only two weeks to go when we see who is going to win the brand new bike.
LATE - we have lots of children that are still coming late to school. We need every child at school every day at 9am ready to learn. Our teachers begin the day with reading and writing so when children come late, the teacher must show the child what they need to do in order for them to catch up to the rest of their classmates.
Please help us by coming to school on time every day.
CELEBRATING OUR CULTURAL DIVERSITY @ WPS - it was so wonderful to see our children and staff coming to school today in their cultural attire that celebrates who they are. Our school looked like a ray of sunshine.

David Riley aka The Reading Warrior
David Riley is a children's writer who publishes books for reluctant young readers. He inspires young readers with positive inspirational stories from New Zealand, also the Pacific and encourages them to write and publish their own. We were privileged to have Mr Riley come into WPS and talk with all our students about what he does. He entertained everyone with his sense of humour, enthusiasm, and charisma and had everyone engaged with his amazing success stories.
