PASTORAL CARE @ WPS
Is driven by positivity where all children are taonga (treasures) and our role as staff who work here is to find and unlock the potential in every child so they are treasured. We promote ‘mana enhancing’ opportunities at all times.
Pastoral care is formulated around our vision ‘Strive for the Best’ our values of; respect and honesty and our Weymouth Way. We think. We help. We learn. We care. We work hard to create a family-like context and we build relationships with all our children and their families.
All classes have systems and guidelines set up to ensure at all times the health and safety of our students is paramount and that we want children to come to school every day and have fun while they are learning.
At WPS, we are committed to fostering understanding and inclusivity among all students. All our students are unique and some of our students at times can struggle with overwhelming emotions or sensory experiences and we work hard to support students that have additional needs and sometimes may need additional support. Our staff strive to handle all situations with care, and we will continue to work closely with all our students to promote positive interactions at all times.
We appreciate and value your support as we strive to provide an inclusive education for all our students.
MEET AND GREET EVENING
What a fabulous turn out of families to come and meet and greet your child/rens’ teachers. We had 161 slips returned for the end of night prize draw, so well done. I saw lots of parents come out with some activities from the teachers on how to support in the home, well done. Also lots of parents had a chat with our providers who had set up stalls to show how they support us. We had our beautiful health team - Senia and Sariah, Sarah from the Clendon library, free sample lunches from Manurewa High, Whaea Deirdre shared all the work we do around sustainable education in our ‘Te Akomanga o te taiao’ (The classroom of the environment) and Matua James our school chaplain.
A huge thank you to our Weymouth Angels who volunteered to cook the sausages and feed our community. To our teachers - thank you for meeting and greeting with our incredible families.
Well done to all our prize winners:
